I work in a furniture store. I am a salesperson, but I am not pushy. Most furniture store salespeople work on commission. They try to talk customers into buying as much furniture as possible, as higher sales mean more money in their pockets. I do not work on commission. I am paid a weekly salary, and my paycheck does not depend on how many pieces or sets I sell. I allow customers to browse. I simply approach them and let them know that they can come to me with any questions they may have during their shopping experience. We offer deep discounts for customers who buy a complete room grouping. When a livingroom set is purchased, the buyer can pick out a set of tables to go with it, and a discount will be applied to both the furniture and the tables. Many times, customers have approached me and asked which tables I thought would compliment a particular furniture set best. The other day, a couple asked which tables I would recommend for a set of livingroom furniture. Because of the colors that were incorporated into the upholstery and the wood that the furniture was trimmed in, I told them that a bamboo coffee table would look great. They took my advice and bought a set of bamboo tables.
