Depending on the franchise that you are interested in, chances are you can open an outlet anywhere in the world.  That said, because this is a very geographically reliant type of business, you will probably want to build your business close to where you are living.   As you study the different franchise offerings, you may find that there is already one franchise represented in your area.   With a little bit of research, you should be able to determine if it will be feasible to compete with them.  If you are serious about investing in a low cost franchise, you will soon find that ones dedicated to carpet cleaning franchises have plenty of opportunity for growth, as well as a number of different parent companies to choose from.
